It’s no secret that the Xbox One S is a massive leap forward from last year’s model, but Microsoft has confirmed that the company is still working on a successor.
It’s been confirmed that there’s a “next generation Xbox” in the works and it looks like that successor will be the Xbox X, which we’ve seen rumoured for sometime.
It also looks like the next-gen console is going to include 4K video playback and HDR, and it seems that Xbox boss Phil Spencer is also excited about the idea.
“I think there’s going to be a new generation Xbox that is, in my opinion, going to have some of the biggest innovations on console, and we’re working on it,” Spencer said at the Microsoft X Games Conference.
“The next generation Xbox is going be a big step forward.
We’re going to continue to iterate on the core Xbox experiences and we want to make sure that you get the best content that you can.
And then, as we continue to innovate on that, we’re also going to take the next step on the new front-facing camera for the Xbox Scorpio and I think we’re going have some pretty amazing games.”
What are we looking at here?
There’s a lot to get excited about with the next Xbox.
We know that Microsoft is going all-in on next-generation gaming, but we’re not yet sure what this next-generation console will be called, or even what it will be packing.
We don’t know when we’re seeing new console-specific hardware.
We do know that the next console is expected to be priced between $500 and $600.
That’s a substantial price hike, but it could be just the start of a new era for gaming.
It will be interesting to see how much of the next generation is going towards the next gen.
The Xbox One has been in the news a lot lately, with the launch of the Xbox E, and Microsoft is keen to talk up the next big leap for gaming on the Xbox.
Microsoft has also been releasing a lot of new hardware, which has been something of a mixed bag for the company.
It seems that a big part of the problem with the Xbox’s sales has been its reliance on third-party accessories.
Microsoft’s latest hardware initiative has been aimed at addressing this issue by introducing a range of accessories, including the Xbox Wireless Controller, the Xbox SmartGlass accessory and the Xbox Camera.
The new Xbox accessories were also able to support the Xbox Live Arcade, which will likely help boost the console’s sales.
As part of this initiative, Microsoft is also launching the Xbox Elite Controller, which is essentially a replacement for the original Elite Controller.
The controller features the same buttons and controls as the original controller, and now it’s even compatible with the new Xbox Elite controller.
We don’t have any confirmation on what the next iteration of the Microsoft Xbox will be, but what do you think of the latest rumors?
